Acne Solutions

By: Tatw

Nearly everyone fights with acne at some point in their lives. Generally throughout their teenage years, but there are a lot that have acne dilemmas well into their thirties and even longer. As a result of that, products claiming to treat or even prevent acne are literally loading the market.
To begin with, there are acne treatments soaps. As with any other soap, these are to be used to rinse the skin, usually two times a day. Most of the labels will state that they function by deep cleansing the pores by getting rid of debris and extra moisture. In addition to cleansers, there are plenty of acne treatment astringents on the market. These function almost like the soaps do by cleansing the pores and getting rid of moisture. However, astringents are used by dampening a cotton ball with the astringent and then using the ball to wash the affected places.
A common result of both soaps and astringents is dry skin, or even flushed, peeling skin. Fortunately, there are plenty of moisturizing salves and lotions available for purchase that are supposed to sooth the skin and keep it nice and soft.
Acne skin care treatments usually come in containers with more than one item. For example, an acne skin care treatment may have deep cleansing soap, astringent, and moisturizer all in one.
For more serious acne, a dermatologist can also prescribe treatments. Some of these may have special more powerful varieties of cleansers or astringents, but in many cases, a dermatologist`s prescription will include medication in pill form to battle the acne from inside the body. These acne treatments are very powerful and are usually only recommended for people who have tried over-the-counter products to cure their acne without success.
In addition to acne treatment medications, there are also acne laser treatments which function by using a laser to shine light through the skin and trigger the body`s normal bacteria battling processes. The result is less and less severe breakouts.
The acne laser treatment is not especially hurtful. People who have had the treatment describe the feeling as like being snapped with a rubber band. And it does not interfere with natural daily events. Though the face may look slightly puffy and red, these side-effects usually disappear after a couple hours to a couple days after the laser treatment.
On the downside, acne laser treatments are not cheap. A sole treatment of just the cheeks cost roughly $275. And because it usually takes four treatments to truly improve the acne, that makes it cost about $1100 just for the cheeks by themselves.
For people who have had acne in the past and now have deep, atrophic scars, there is something called a laser acne scar treatment that can lessen those scars and make the skin look smooth and supple. The scar removal functions by using a laser in order to stimulate the body to make new skin in that area, thereby filling in the scar. This, too, is quite costly, costing about the same as the acne laser treatments.
However, because there are so many different acne treatments available on the market today, everyone has a much better chance of finding the appropriate solution for their acne.
